Didn't miss the boat after all... The Eco Wing is born !!!
Well the news the next day was good! The school (Fly-by Ranch) still had 3 PowerPlay 250's and I made it a point to get one. The math's something like this: For $1000 less than I paid for my current wing 2 years ago, I get a brand new wing that's the same size and rated for a hair less than twice the weight. That boys and girls is called a Tandem. Also the paint scheme is one that's going to facilitate painting it. Oh I hear ya, "What do you mean paint it, Rob?" Well gentle readers, I mean paint it like a flying billboard. See the scheme's red and blue on the top, but bunches and bunches of clean white on the underside...(the side you see when I fly overhead) So I called up a fellow in Ohio that paints wings as well as training people to fly. His name's Bruce Brown and painted wings are his game. In the PPG Convention short, you can see him kiting a Remax painted wing out of a shot and then a split second of the painted wing bunched up. Hey, no one ever accused me of being a good videotographer... So back to the Eco Wing.
This new wing is going to be painted with the nice simple and classic anti litter slogan "Leave only your footprints...". This is going to be doubly nice as I from time to time fly beaches. What better place to remind folks to pick up after themselves. I like to think of it as my own contribution to a better world and a reasonable public service announcement. And if folks do actually heed the message, score one for the environment. What can I say, I care. If however you ever need a lift, please understand when the floorboards of the truck are deep in paper bags and wrappers, I don't throw trash from my vehicles and people that do REALLY piss me off.
I just need to be better about policing up the floorboards when I get where I'm going... that's all.
Peace out.
