Kiddo Flew!

Well Gang, it was an eventful day Monday. I picked up kiddo after school and after a little straightening around the house, we went out kiting. I originally just planned to teach her how to lay out the wing and harness up, but since it was a little breezy, I decided if we got a few inflations as well, all the better. Well winds were mild and variable. I had her doing reverses and pretty soon she was doing a great job of inflating and jockeying for position to keep the wing centered. I figured heck, we could turn and have her run too (I figured this because every step of the way I was behind her with both hands holding onto the back of her harness for safety). Well bettering one than just turning, I added a 3 foot strap to the front of her harness so that when she turned to run, I could pull her as well. Well on the second try she hit speed enough to take off, so she did as I continued pulling her. She was doing great, especially considering that when one turns from reverse to forward with the wing flying, one has to click a mental switch and change what you're doing to fly the wing to the opposite of what you were doing just a second ago before turning. So like I said, she was flying, a whole one foot off the ground, but FLYING !!! And she was laughing her butt off having a ball. I pulled her probably 30 feet before tiring and she started to sink back in. Not wanting to end it, she just pulled her feet up and another 15 feet down she slid in for a knee landing rolling to a near faceplant as the wing let her down gently and then overflew us both. She rolled over in the risers, her arms behind her, still laughing and it was obvious she loved it. I couldn't be more proud. Now to just do it a few dozen more times...
