Cordele Friday Evening...

Additional footage from Cordele Georgia... Friday evening.
More behind the scenes and you can see a lot of the people on the ground assisting with launches where needed...

Thanks to Dave and Leah for filming and sharing.

The whole event was really something to behold for a first effort. (Easily best I've seen in several years...and a crazy great location) If there's a second or beyond with this site, it's certain to to be a must do for the entire southeast. A chance to reminiese with old friends, meet new, and do some camp chair flying as well!

Weekend Flying

So, Just back from Cordele Georgia where we had a fly-in to benefit #6 and it was something else. Here's some video of Friday Morning:

Winds were 10+ with gusts to probably 16. We were at the county airport and it was absolutely amazing just being there. Rockin' with the general aviation guys was something else. (Something to be done with extreme care I assure you.) Weather after friday was a blow-out and Sunday brought a day of wetness...

Theremin Night

Well, it's official. We have a Theremin. Thanks to my good friend Philip and a rescheduled lunch trip, we have the hoppin electric sounds of the 1920's right here in ValkingBlog. Yes, I know the Fender amp isn't exactly retro, but they'd have used it if they'd had it, right? I am so primed over this. Now for hours and hours of not touching this thing and making magic sounds. (Hopefully later they'll end up sounding like music, but right now, I feel like I did after my first band lesson on the trumpet 30 years or more ago.

Friday and no work...

So it's Friday and I've got a case of the "what to do?". Originally I was planning to have lunch with my good friend Philip, but he's had pressing business come up. What to do, what to do? Well I started simple, I'm charging the camcorder batteries. Got a few ideas to film up, and with dead batteries it's too easy to push them to the back burner. Decided to take the day off yesterday and the boss found the idea not against any plans we had at work, so here i am... Perhaps I should get that 2 meter installed in the jeep. Heck I don't know. Had a good one this time last week. Ended up doing the front wheel bearings on Kiddo's THING. Since she's got front disk brakes (thanks previous owner!) it was a snap. Only trick was pressing out the old bearing races and pressing in the new ones. Thank goodness I have access to a press...lol. The front left had started to come apart. The races and the bearings were a mix between French, German and Chinese, so no wonder there were problems. Everything's all better now though, 4 hours, a few lucky breaks like the parts store having what we needed, and we're all done. Kiddo seems happy with the improvement and I'm just patting myself on the back that I did the whole deal in one afternoon/evening. (Normally VW projects are several days thanks to parts collecion/ordering/waiting, but not this time. I'm thinking I should look into getting Pepe's (MY THING) bearings out of the way, but heck, I've got a case of the blahs today... I think I'll go play GTA for a bit to help me decide.
