One of these days, if you lose a son, a daughter, a cousin or a good friend in a terrorist attack, blame whoever perpetrated the deed first, but secondly blame The New York Times, whose irresponsibility may have enabled the killers to obtain necessary financing."

Groups lobby for Internet neutrality law

Groups lobby for Internet neutrality law: "(San Diego Union-Tribune, The (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Jun. 19--The World Wide Web is a great equalizer.

The digital bits that make up Joe's blog are treated the same as those that make up search engine behemoth Google.

But an individual's blog takes up far less space on the information superhighway than big sites like Google or online auctioneer eBay.

Therein lies the seed of a debate pitting Google, Microsoft and other titans of the digital age against telecom giants like Time Warner and AT&T.

At stake is the future of the Internet."

Inner Art of Airmanship > Last Flight with Sam

Inner Art of Airmanship > Last Flight with Sam: "I had no idea this would be the last time I saw Sam Hamilton. However we were well aware that this was not an ordinary time. It was the middle of September, 2001, a few days after all civilian flying stopped in the United States.
I'd been at home since the eleventh in a dazed state. I held close to my girlfriend, both of us wondering what the future of the airline business would be. At the time we lived under the approach path for runway 7R at Milwaukee's Mitchell International, but there had been no jet noise for there had been no traffic in days. The silence was unsettling, broken only by the occasional military C-130 Hercules transport flying overhead. I headed out to the small country airport to see Sam."

Daily Times - Site Edition

The Google.com search engine has been blocked in most parts of China, as Beijing steps up its efforts to restrict the public’s access to information, a Paris-based media watchdog said.

Internet users in many major Chinese cities have had difficulty connecting to the uncensored international version of Google for the past week, Reporters Without Borders said in a statement received here Wednesday.

Hurricane Ready

That's right gang, we're ready for the hurricane bug out & recovery. Moni's Jeep has been gone thru and put back to good as new. In the meantime we had her Christmas present installed. The snorkel, add a new set of tires and she's all ship shape.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you the SwimJeep, Savannah style. Doesn't need lift (yet), we're flatlanders here. Perhaps later. One step at a time...

It was a long-sought victory in the war in Iraq.

Post Flight

MotorSunset
Life is good after a flight like that. The absolute joy of having left the earth for a fleeting while, shown gravity that you can negotiate a brief reprieve from its constant pull, rise to new heights and return again later safe and feather light. Sights few will ever see or even imagine are yours to share or secret away. Time moves slowly. The feel of the breeze blowing, the sand beneath your feet and between your wiggling toes, the smell of fresh sea air. Where else would you rather be at a moment like this? For me, nowhere else is the answer. I hope you have places and times like this, or you find your own. You all deserve it.

Wednesday evening I got a flight in, one of those moments to share... Two hundred feet between you and the ground. Speed 26mph (like a scooter or moped)... Temperature in the low 80's with a 26mph breeze on your face...

Gasoline: $5
Gatoraide: $1.50
Parking meter: $3.00
The view: PRICELESS

GI'S BIG FAT SUIT VS. MOORE By JENNIFER FERMINO - New York Post Online Edition: News

GI'S BIG FAT SUIT VS. MOORE By JENNIFER FERMINO - New York Post Online Edition: News: "A double-amputee Iraq-war vet is suing Michael Moore for $85 million, claiming the portly peacenik recycled an old interview and used it out of context to make him appear anti-war in 'Fahrenheit 9/11.'
Sgt. Peter Damon, 33, who strongly supports America's invasion of Iraq, said he never agreed to be in the 2004 movie, which trashes President Bush.
In the 2003 interview, which he did at Walter Reed Army Hospital for NBC News, he discussed only a new painkiller the military was using on wounded vets.
'They took the clip because it was a gut-wrenching scene..."
